Horizon Medical Center:  Archie Lyell, (room 162) who is in very critical condition; James Shirley, (ICU, friend of Dr. Gaylan Brown)

 

Prayers are requested for:

  • Jamie Fisher, (mother of Marty Spann) is scheduled for a double mastectomy October 12th
  • Nelson Pierce, (teacher and football coach at DCHS and friend to many of this congregation) who is scheduled for an aorta replacement surgery Thursday in Cleveland, Ohio
  • Bob Beaubien, (father of Brad Beaubien) returned home from the hospital
  • Agnes Cauthen, returned home from the hospital
  • Kenny Fussell, (related to several members here) returned home from the hospital
  • William “Lucky” Clark, (husband of Cheryl Clark) who returned home from the hospital Monday after suffering a heart attack

 

Other Announcements:

The Loft will be open tonight following classes.  5th Quarter for this Friday night has been cancelled.

 

Dishes from food prepared for recent family deaths have been placed in the kitchen and are ready for pickup.

 

The Fall Quarter Ladies’ Wednesday Morning Bible Study will begin today at 10 am in the Chapel.  The topic of study will be Titus.  Contact Judy Hinson at 594-3832 for more details.

 

The Thursday morning Ladies’ Bible Study will begin Thursday at 9 am in the Loft.  The topic of study will be Echoing His Heartbeat: The Life of David by Casandra Martin.  The cost of the workbook is $13 and is available in the church office.  For more information, contact Sherrie Spencer at 446-3882. 

 

Mark your calendar for Walnut Street’s Fall Meeting with Jay Lockhart Sunday, September 12th, through Wednesday, September 15th.  Fellowship meals will begin at 5:30 pm Monday through Wednesday and are $3 per person or $10 maximum per family.  Call the church office if you plan to attend any of these meals.  All men are invited to a Men’s Breakfast on Tuesday morning at Montgomery Bell Inn at 7 am.  Jay will speak briefly at this breakfast.

 

The Bible Bowl Appreciation Lunch will take place Sunday, September 12th, in the Fellowship Hall.  All participants and their families, coaches, ministers, elders, and their wives, and anyone who assisted with Bible Bowl are invited to attend.  Contact David Pippin for more details.

 

The next W.O.W. event is scheduled for Friday, September 17th, at 6 pm at the home of Rachel Corlew.  Ladies will learn to crochet.  Beginners to experienced are welcome!  The cost is $7 per person and includes the materials needed to crochet a small purse.  Dinner will be provided.  Please RSVP to Rachel at 446-8787 so the correct amount of supplies and food can be purchased.

 

The next C.I.A. activity is scheduled for Sunday, September 19th, at 2 until 4 pm.  Bring $6 for bowling.

 

A Monday evening Bible study will begin September 20th at 6:30 pm.  The topic of study will be “I Will Not Be Lukewarm Rising Above Mediocrity” by Dana Burk.  The cost of the workbook is $10 and is available in the church office.  For more information, contact Regina Cathey.  All ladies are invited and guests are welcome!

 

Save the date!  The Ladies’ Fall Retreat will be November 5th and 6th.  Our speaker is Casandra Martin, author of the Women Opening the Word Bible study series.
